Near the high trestle over Nason Creek at Gaynor, is also a straight tunnel, of a few hundred feet, by the same name. The tunnel helped the railroad bypass a loop in the river and resultant hillside. Martin got this shot safely from the west portal of the bore from a retaining wall along the tracks. This westbound is about to pierce the ridge as it roars off of Gaynor trestle on the steep approach to Berne Washington on Stevens Pass.
